Health insurance should be more than just set and forget insurance for when something goes wrong and you really need it. Our goal is to improve the health and wellbeing of our Members by providing marketing leading benefits on hospital and day surgery admissions and extras therapies and services, offering excellent service to Members and non-Members alike and by keeping it affordable.
We don't have external shareholders, so profits are kept within the group to provide better benefits and services to Members.
The Health Fund is the only one based in regional Queensland, and services more than 52,000 Members. We have five retail service centres in Townsville, Ayr, Mackay and Mount Isa, as well as our head office being based in Townsville.
Queensland Country Health Fund was established in 1977 as the MIM Employees' Health Society. Our aim back then was to assist employees of MIM to protect themselves against the potential financial burden of hospital and medical costs. In 1999, Queensland Country Credit Union merged with MIM Employees' Health Society, to form Queensland Country Health Ltd. The Health Fund was then able to operate as an open health fund under a management contract with Queensland Country Credit Union.
Queensland Country Health Fund works in conjunction with Queensland Country Credit Union to meet all insurance and financial service needs of people living in regional Queensland.
