Queensland Country Health is a not-for-profit Health Benefits Fund and we aim to provide our policyholders with an exceptional product that is simple to understand, at an affordable cost.
Our purpose is to provide the people of Queensland with the highest quality health insurance to promote their health and wellbeing.
Queensland Country Health Fund was established in 1977 as MIM Employees Health Society. The Fund was established to assist employees of MIM in protecting themselves against the potential financial burden of hospital and medical costs. In 1999, Queensland Country Credit Union undertook a merger with MIM Employee’s Health Society, following an approach from the board of the Fund. A separate company, Queensland Country Health Ltd was established and the transfer took place on the 1 January 1999. The Health Fund was then able to operate as an open health fund under a management contract with Queensland Country Credit Union.
The Health Fund covers more than 35,000 people across Queensland and is often the first choice for health insurance for people living in Regional Queensland. The Health Fund has 4 retail service centres in Townsville, Ayr, Mackay and Mount Isa and head office is based in Townsville.
